Social activists argue that schools should stimulate students' imaginations and passion for learning. In some states, the No Bag Day program allows students to go to school without books for at least one day a month, teaching subjects like social values, physical health, and sports. In Puducherry, the Joint Director of Education has directed all schools to observe the last working day of every month as No Bag Day. Kerala State Education Minister Sivan Kutty has announced four days of the No Bag Day scheme. A lesser weight for school bags has also been prescribed.
A question has arisen among parents and students whether such a program can be implemented in Tamil Nadu. The No Bag Day scheme is a part of the National Education Policy. Educationists and parties including DMK protest that there are many controversial issues in the National Education Policy. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government is showing seriousness in preparing and implementing the state education policy.
When the state education policy is formulated, educators hope that some important programs like No Bag Day can be included in it. So will this project be implemented in Tamilnadu too? Will it be considered?
