On December 13, during the Lok Sabha's zero hour, two enigmatic individuals sprang from the visitors’ gallery and ran into the chamber with smoke emanating canisters that raised concerns about the Parliament's security.
Five people were arrested in this connection and it was revealed that it was the Karnataka BJP MP who suggested the visitor pass. After this, this issue has become a hot topic. Besides this, the opposition parties raised slogans in the Parliament demanding a discussion on the matter and the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah. They questioned and condemned the security of people's representative MPs and demanded a debate on the lack of security in Parliament. Opposition members in the House went on a rampage yesterday as they were denied.
Speaker Om Birla started suspending MPs one after the other for their involvement. First, T.N Pradapan, Dean Kuriakos, S. Jyothimani, RamyaHaridas and Hibi Eden were suspended. This was followed by V.K Srikandan, Benny Behanan, Mohammed Javed, P.R.Natarajan, Kanimozhi, K. Subparayan, S.R. Parthiban (he was not there but he was also suspended), S. Venkatesan and Manickam Thakur were also suspended. Member of the RajyaSabha, Derek O'Brien, was also suspended.
Of these, 9 belong to the Congress party. 2 belong to Marxist Communist Party. One belongs to CPI party. Two are from DMK.With this, a total of 15 members have been suspended. Due to this, there has been a lot of excitement.
The opposition also alleged that the BJP MP was not investigated over the help he rendered to those arrested tresspassers. What happened in Parliament was extraordinary. Is it not necessary to discuss it? Prime Minister Modi or Amit Shah should have answered the opposition parties in the House. If the Prime Minister Modi or Amit Shah had given an explanation yesterday, the Parliament would have continued to have healthy debates.
In this regard, many people are considering and commenting that the suspension is an anti-democratic act. Leaders of major parties have also demanded that Speaker should revoke the suspension of 15 MPs.Suspension for asking questions about questionable parliamentary security? Criticism also arises that this is an attempt to divert the problem.
The expectation of the people is that Speaker should immediately cancel the suspension order of 15 MPs, and that parliamentary democracy should flourish!
