Winners of inter-collegiate competition honored

Deputy commissioner of police (North) G Chandeesh distributed prizes to the winners of an inter-collegiate competition that was jointly organized by Citizens Voice Coimbatore, Citizens consumer and civic action group and Kumaraguru college of liberal arts and science with the support of Zoho corporation and LYCA Kovai kings, during an event organized at the college in the city.

 More than 300 students from 18 colleges in Karur, Coimbatore, Tiruchengode and Gobichettipalayam took part in the competition titled ‘Green Tech Fusion’. Participants were allowed to pick only one of the three topics – solid waste management, renewable energy and digital era – to showcase their talent through a street play, skit, mime or display and explain futuristic models.

 First prize with a cash award worth Rs 10,000 was bagged by Nehru college of arts and science, while the second prize worth Rs 5,000 was bagged by AVP college of arts and science and the third prize worth Rs 3,000 was secured by Jansons institute of technology. A special prize under each category was bagged by Government law college, Sri Sarada Niketan college and KS Ramasamy college of technology. The award for the best supporting college for consumer cause was bagged by Sankara college of arts and science and the award for the best consumer club coordinator was secured by N Sridevi, associate professor of Kumaraguru college of liberal arts and science. 

CM Jayaraman, president of Citizens’ Voice Coimbatore welcomed the gathering, college principal Vijala Edwin Kennedy presided over the function. Dr V Gopinath, scientist F of Bureau of Indian standards, who took part in the event as the guest of honor, released a handbook on compendium of consumer court judgements.
