The promise that got the most attention in the DMK's election manifesto was the provision of Rs 1,000 per month as an allowance to housewives. People were expecting that the announcement about the Entitlement Scheme was not made even though the various promises made in the election manifesto were fulfilled.
In this context, Finance Minister P.T.R Palanivel Thiagarajan announced that the Women's Entitlement Scheme will be implemented from September 15. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin said that while it was expected that Rs. 1000 rupees per month will be given to all the housewives, it will be given only to those who are eligible. Housing for all means housing for the homeless and employment for all means employment for the unemployed.
The Chief Minister said that this right amount will be given to those who need it the most. One crore people are less than half of the 2 crore 15 lakh family cards. So the question mark of who is going to give to whom has loomed large in Tamil Nadu. Information is being leaked that this entitlement amount will not be available to women belonging to the families of government employees, family members of government pensioners, those who bought expensive items including cars, and income tax payers will not be given this scheme.
However who will get Rs 1000 will be known for sure only after the complete announcement. Rs.7000 crore has been earmarked for the rights issue scheme. Starting in September, funds have been allocated for seven months till next March. In that way, this scheme will be available to one crore people in the form of Rs.1000 crore per month.
They say it has been narrowed down to one crore considering the financial situation. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin feels that it will be a great achievement if this scheme is implemented without any hindrance for one crore people. Directly credited to the bank account so no one can lay a hand in between.
If this program is successfully implemented, people will have a lot of respect for the DMK government, which is expected to reflect in the Lok Sabha elections. What do Tamilnadu women expect before this? They are waiting to know the clear terms of who will get the Rs 1000 entitlement.
