Workers of a cooking gas filling unit (bottling plant) of Indian Oil Corporation, operating at Perundurai Sipcot, went on strike yesterday. 72 workers are working on contract basis there.
It is said that a factory official scolded a worker for not doing the work properly.
In protest against this, other workers gathered in front of the factory and started a strike.
After getting the information, Perundurai MLA Jayakumar went there and held talks with the protesting workers and the officer concerned.
On getting information about this, Perundurai Police, Perundurai Assistant Superintendent of Police Gauthamkoyal, Erode City Deputy Superintendent of Police Anandakumar, rushed to the spot.
The concerned officer then said that the dismissed worker would be reinstated.
After that, the worker also gave a letter of assurance that he will be careful in his work from now on. Subsequently, the workers withdrew their strike and returned to work. Due to the strike of the workers, the filling of gas in the factory was stopped. After the protest ended, the gas filling work started in the factory after noon.
