World Environment Day observed at TNAU

World Environment Day was observed by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute on Thursday by organizing an event, Ecothon 2025: Voices and dreams of green warriors. The event was centered on the theme, ‘Beat plastic pollution’, emphasizing the need for immediate environmental action.
The event was presided over by TNAU’s acting vice chancellor R Tamizhvendan, and ACE and RI’s dean A Raviraj was present at the event.
The event, organized by the college’s EcoClub, featured a special lecture by S Satheeshkumar on “Knowing the Environment,” which provoked thought on environmental challenges and solutions.
Exhibits included a model titled ‘plastic atrocity against the earth’ symbolizing the conflict between nature and pollution, a timeline-based display titled ‘plastic storyline’ covering the history and impact of plastic, informational exhibits on the complexities of plastic pollution and innovative solutions; a documentary titled ‘A world without plastic’, and a flash mob on the theme ‘clean green environment – essential for all living beings’.
Also, students conducted a plastic detox study within the college campus, collecting field plastic waste and transforming it into a three-seater bench. This wealth from waste conversion initiative was inaugurated by the college dean. The students’ efforts, blending science, creativity, and environmental consciousness, served as a force for building a responsible society.
