Youth and student wings of the ruling DMK party to stage a protest across the state on October 15 against the union government’s move to impose Hindi among the people. A joint statement released by the party’s youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin and student wing secretary CVMP Ezhilarasan, said, “The BJP government at the centre is working towards destroying the diversity of the country by trying to implement ‘one nation, one language, one religion’ policy. Along with the diversity, the unity of the nation would also be destroyed if such a policy is being implemented in the country.”
The committee headed by the union home minister Amit Shah has recommended to mandate Hindi as the medium of education at union government’s educational institutions including IIT, IIM and AIIMS and to conduct competitive examinations to fill central government jobs in Hindi, the statement said, adding that implementation of such a recommendation would affect a large section of people as it means they would get employment only if they know Hindi which is nothing but imposition of Hindi among people.
The recommendations also aim to destroy the rights of the public to study in their own language, the statement said and added that the New Education Policy is also nothing but a move to impose Hindi among the people.Demanding the immediate withdrawal of the moves to impose Hindi, partymen to stage a protest at all the districts in the state on October 15, the statement said, seeking the public support for the protest.
