Heritage foods honours women farmers across nine states on women’s day

Heritage Foods Limited celebrated International Women’s Day by honouring women dairy farmers and recognising more than 2,000 women-run milk procurement centres across nine states, highlighting the growing role of women in its dairy supply chain. The celebrations were held across 189 chilling centres in Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. The initiative recognised the contribution of women who form a significant part of the company’s procurement network.
Of the 4,600 Heritage Procurement Centres operated by the company, over 2,000 — about 42 per cent — are managed by women. Among the nearly three lakh farmers associated with the company across the country, about 45 per cent are women.
At the chilling centres, celebrations were organised at the unit premises bringing together women Heritage Procurement Representatives. Unit managers hosted the gatherings and felicitated women representatives for their contribution to the company’s growth. Senior leaders of the organisation participated in events held at various units across the nine states. A major highlight of the celebrations was an interaction meeting with women dairy farmers held at Nandigama village in Shadnagar in Telangana. The event brought together around 500 women dairy farmers from the region.
During the programme, a veterinary health camp was organised for cattle, and cattle feed and nutrition support were distributed. Discussions were also held on improving milk productivity and promoting better animal welfare practices. The event included a felicitation ceremony recognising top-performing women farmers for their contribution to the company’s supply chain.
Bhuvaneshwari Nara, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Heritage Foods, addressed the gathering and highlighted the company’s long-standing partnership with dairy farmers and its efforts to support rural livelihoods.
She said women have been central to Heritage Foods’ journey over the past three decades. With 42 per cent of the company’s milk collection centres managed by women and nearly 45 per cent of its farmer partners being women, their role in strengthening rural economies is significant, she said.
Bhuvaneshwari Nara noted that when women become financially strong, their families and villages also become stronger. She added that every litre of milk supplied by women farmers reflects their hard work and determination to build a better future for their families. She said the company remains committed to ensuring transparent and timely payments and creating more leadership opportunities for women within its farmer network.
Simultaneously, Women’s Day events were organised at Heritage Foods’ chilling centres across all nine states, with company officials participating alongside local women dairy farmers.
Founded in 1992, Heritage Foods is one of India’s leading dairy companies with operations across 17 states. The company works closely with dairy farmers, providing training, modern farming practices and a fair partnership model while delivering milk and value-added dairy products to consumers across the country
