R. N. Ravi will take oath as the Governor of West Bengal on Thursday morning in Kolkata.
Ravi, who has been appointed as the new Governor of the state, is scheduled to leave for Kolkata on Wednesday evening. The oath of office will be administered by the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court at a ceremony to be held at Raj Bhavan on March 12.
The appointment follows the resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose, who stepped down as the Governor of West Bengal on March 5. Following this, Ravi, who has been serving as the Governor of Tamil Nadu since September 18, 2021, was appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal.
Ravi, a former Indian Police Service officer and former Deputy National Security Adviser, will formally assume charge after the swearing-in ceremony.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has criticised the change in the gubernatorial post, alleging that the Union Government replaced the Governor without consulting the state government.
