The sudden closure of an auto LPG filling station in the Ukkadam area of Coimbatore due to a gas shortage left several motorists disappointed on Wednesday.
According to sources, many auto LPG stations across the city have been temporarily shut down as supplies have not reached the outlets.
Station operators said distribution would resume only after fresh LPG consignments
arrive. As a result, several auto-rickshaw and car drivers who came to refill their vehicles were forced to return without fuel.
Auto LPG is widely used by rental vehicle drivers in the city as it is cheaper than diesel, with the current price standing at Rs. 64.80 per litre.
Drivers have urged authorities to ensure adequate LPG supply at the earliest to avoid further inconvenience to motorists.
