R. N. Ravi, who has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal, left Chennai on Wednesday morning ahead of taking charge in Kolkata.
Ravi had been serving as the Governor of Tamil Nadu since September 18, 2021. During his tenure, the Governor and the DMK-led State government were frequently at odds over several issues.
The State government had also moved the Supreme Court accusing the Governor of delaying assent to bills passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, while the Governor had raised various concerns regarding the functioning of the State administration.
Following the resignation of West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose earlier this month, Ravi was appointed to the post. Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been given additional charge as the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Ravi is scheduled to take oath as the Governor of West Bengal at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on Thursday.
