Members of the National Democratic Alliance staged protests across Tamil Nadu condemning the DMK government over alleged failure to curb drug circulation and maintain law and order.
In Villupuram, AIADMK cadres led by former minister C.V. Shanmugam held a protest near the new bus stand, raising slogans against the State government.
Addressing the gathering, Shanmugam criticised the “Tell Me Your Dream” initiative of the government. In a controversial remark, he drew a comparison with former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s message on dreaming and made a statement that triggered immediate reactions among participants.
The remark led to unease among sections of those present at the protest, with some expressing disapproval over the nature of the comment.
Despite the brief stir, the protest continued with party members reiterating allegations against the government on issues related to drug menace and governance.
