In a touching incident, a 25-year-old woman donated a portion of her liver to save her father’s life in Karnataka, drawing widespread appreciation.
Ajjappa, 50, an agricultural worker from Jagalur in Davanagere district, had reportedly suffered severe liver damage due to prolonged alcohol consumption. He was admitted to a private hospital where doctors advised an urgent liver transplant, estimated to cost over Rs. 50 lakh.
Determined to save her father, his daughter Chandana, who works in a private firm, came forward to donate her liver. Following medical evaluation, doctors performed the transplant by removing a portion of her liver and successfully grafting it to Ajjappa.
The surgery proved successful, and Ajjappa has since recovered and returned to normal health, according to hospital sources.
Chandana’s selfless act has been widely praised, with many hailing her as an example of filial devotion and courage. The incident has also drawn attention to the importance of organ donation.
