A nine-year-old schoolgirl was widely appreciated for her honesty after returning a wallet containing cash and documents to its rightful owner in Coimbatore.
Janvi, a Class 4 student from Puliyakulam, found a wallet lying on the road while walking with her father Manish near their residence on Thomas Street. On opening it, she found Rs 9,500 in cash along with an ATM card, Aadhaar card, and driving licence.
Without hesitation, Janvi, accompanied by her father, took the wallet to the Bazaar Street police station and handed it over to Inspector Shankar.
Using the address on the Aadhaar card, police traced the owner as Harish, an IT employee from Papanayakanputhur, and called him to the station.
The wallet was returned to him in the presence of police officials. Inspector Shankar commended Janvi for her integrity and appreciated her exemplary act.
