Drone operations have been prohibited in key areas of Coimbatore on March 28 and 29 in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to neighbouring Kerala for election campaigning.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to campaign in Palakkad and Thrissur on March 29 in connection with the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections. He will canvass support for Bharatiya Janata Party candidates, including Padmaja Venugopal in the Thrissur constituency.
According to officials, Narendra Modi will arrive in Coimbatore at around 2 pm on Saturday and proceed to Palakkad by helicopter.
As part of security measures, authorities have imposed a temporary ban on flying drones in several areas, including Neelambur, Chettipalayam, Ettimadai, Walayar, Avinashi Road, Peelamedu, Kalapatti, Podanur and Eachanari.
The restrictions have been enforced to ensure safe movement of the Prime Minister and to maintain security during the visit.
