Former MLA and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) functionary Parthiban joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.
Parthiban, who represented the Sholinghur constituency as an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLA in 2016, later joined the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and served as Ranipet district secretary and zonal in-charge.
He had earlier been announced as an AMMK candidate for Sholinghur by T.T.V. Dhinakaran at a public meeting. However, he was reportedly dissatisfied after not being allotted a seat despite the party securing constituencies in the alliance.
Following this, Parthiban resigned from the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam ahead of the Assembly elections.
