A massive wild elephant, popularly known as Bahubali, created tense moments after it was spotted leisurely walking along the busy Udhagai Road near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district.
The lone tusker, which has been frequenting the region for the past few years, is known to occasionally cross between forest stretches, navigating through traffic on the hill road. However, it had not been sighted in the area for the past few months.
On its sudden reappearance, Bahubali calmly walked along the road even as vehicles continued to pass. Alarmed by the presence of the elephant, tourists and motorists halted their vehicles at several points and waited anxiously.
The situation eased after the elephant crossed the stretch without causing any disturbance and safely returned to the forest. Relief was evident among the public and tourists after the animal moved away from the roadway.
