Filmmaker Vignesh Shivan has opened up about his strained relationship with actor-producer Dhanush, describing the fallout as a major personal loss.
Vignesh Shivan, who rose to prominence with Naanum Rowdy Thaan produced by Dhanush, later directed films such as Thaana Serndha Koottam and Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. He is currently associated with the upcoming film L.I.K., directed by Pradeep Ranganathan and starring Keerthy Shetty.
Speaking about the rift, Vignesh Shivan said he holds Dhanush in high regard beyond his achievements as an actor. He admitted that losing the friendship was a weakness and expressed concern that something may have gone wrong on his part, leading to the separation. He also acknowledged that his career journey was shaped significantly by Dhanush and said he would always remain grateful.
Vignesh Shivan, Dhanush and Nayanthara had earlier shared a close bond. However, differences reportedly arose after scenes from the shooting of Naanum Rowdy Thaan were included in Nayanthara’s wedding documentary.
Dhanush, as the producer of the film, approached the court seeking to restrain the use of the footage without permission, which led to a public disagreement between the two sides.
Vignesh Shivan’s remarks have now stirred fresh discussion in the film industry over their fallout.
