A unique fundraising initiative in Ladakh has drawn attention after a single egg was auctioned for Rs. 25,000 in Leh district to support people affected by the ongoing conflict in Iran.
Local organisations, including Anjuman Imamia Leh and Majlis-e-Ulama Leh, have been actively mobilising relief funds as part of humanitarian efforts for war victims.
During one such event, the symbolic auction of an egg witnessed Shabir Hussain placing the highest bid of Rs. 25,000. Explaining his gesture, Hussain said the amount was not about the value of the item but about sending a message of solidarity with suffering children in Iran.
He said the contribution reflected a sense of responsibility and unity within the community, adding that people were willing to extend all possible support for the affected.
Similar relief efforts are also being reported from Jammu and Kashmir, where people have been contributing generously, including donations of money, gold and silver ornaments, livestock and traditional copper utensils, to support those impacted by the conflict.
