Tension prevailed in Pagur during polling for the Assembly elections after an attempt to distribute gift tokens to voters was allegedly thwarted.
Polling in Puducherry began at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Amid the voting process, some individuals were reportedly going door-to-door in Pagur distributing tokens to voters, promising cash, groceries and household items after polling.
Supporters of DMK candidate Senthilkumar intervened and stopped the distribution. When confronted, those involved allegedly threw the tokens on the road and fled the spot.
