Two youths were seriously injured after their motorcycle crashed while following the campaign vehicle of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay on the Madurai–Karaikudi highway on Friday.
With the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for April 23, political parties have intensified campaigning across the State. Vijay was travelling by road from Madurai to Karaikudi in Sivaganga district to take part in an election campaign.
During the journey, a large number of supporters and fans followed his campaign vehicle on motorcycles. In the process, a bike carrying two youths reportedly lost control and rammed into a road barrier.
Both riders sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident created a commotion in the area, highlighting safety concerns during high-profile campaign movements.
