A 23-year-old railway employee was killed after being hit by a train near Tiruvottiyur, in an incident that has drawn attention due to a similar tragedy in his family.
Kishore Kumar, a resident of Thilagar Nagar First Street in Kaladipettai, was working as an electrician in the Railways at Tiruvallur. On Friday evening, he was on his way to duty and attempted to cross the tracks near Tiruvottiyur VOC Railway Station.
At that time, he was struck by the Charlapalli Express, which was travelling from Chennai to Hyderabad, leading to his death on the spot.
Railway Police, who are investigating the case, said that Kishore Kumar’s father, Venugopal, had also died in a similar manner after being hit by a train while in railway service.
Following his father’s death, Kishore Kumar had secured employment in the Railways on compassionate grounds. The recurrence of a similar tragedy has left residents of the area in deep shock and grief.
