Seven persons have been arrested following allegations of harassment of women employees associated with Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik, Maharashtra. The case came to light after complaints that female staff were subjected to inappropriate messages and online abuse through social media platforms.
According to police, the accused sent unsolicited and objectionable messages via Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, causing distress to the victims. Investigators are examining digital evidence, including messages, videos and conversations shared by the accused. Technical experts have been roped in to retrieve deleted data from mobile phones and social media accounts.
Officials said the probe is ongoing, and further details are being verified to establish the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Maharashtra Police and officials of Tata Consultancy Services, seeking a detailed report on the incident and the action taken so far.
