Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja, who recently returned home after prolonged medical treatment, praised actor Radhika for her performance in the film Thai Kizhavi and said she deserved a National Award.
Radhika, a long-time disciple of Bharathiraja, visited him at his residence following his recovery. During the meeting, Bharathiraja watched scenes from Thai Kizhavi, which is currently running in theatres, and lauded her realistic portrayal. He expressed admiration for her performance and blessed her, stating that she should receive a National Award.
Bharathiraja had been undergoing treatment for several months following health complications, including a severe lung infection. He had also been deeply affected by the demise of his son Manoj Bharathiraja, after which he stayed in Malaysia for a period before returning to Chennai late last year for further treatment. He was admitted to a private hospital and remained under intensive care before being discharged recently.
Radhika expressed happiness over the appreciation and blessings from her mentor. Bharathiraja had introduced her to Tamil cinema through the film Kizhakke Pogum Rail, and their enduring guru-disciple relationship continues to be remembered in the industry.
