Woman-shaped Fuchsia blooms draw Tourists to Kodaikanal

Woman-shaped ‘fuchsia’ flowers in full bloom at the Kodaikanal Rose Garden are attracting large numbers of tourists.
The rose garden, maintained by the Horticulture Department in the Kodaikanal Observatory area, spreads across 10 acres and houses around 16,000 plants belonging to nearly 1,500 varieties. In addition to roses, a wide range of seasonal flowering plants are also cultivated in the park.
At present, the fuchsia flowers, known for their unique resemblance to a woman’s form, are blooming in abundance. The flowers appear like a human figure with a head, flowing attire resembling a skirt, and slender legs. As they sway in the breeze, they give the impression of a dancing figure, delighting visitors who stop to admire and photograph them.
Horticulture Officer Parthasarathy said the fuchsia blooms are available in more than eight colours, including red, white and blue. He added that while the flowers bloom throughout the year, they are seen in large numbers during the summer season, enhancing the attraction for tourists.
The seasonal display has become a major draw at the garden, with visitors thronging the spot to witness the distinctive blooms.
