Boy suffocates to death inside locked car

A four-year-old boy died of suffocation after getting trapped inside a locked car near his house in Kazhukur near Kulithalai in Karur district, leading to grief in the locality.
The deceased, Sanjeevi, was the son of Velu, 36, and Mariswari, 30, both daily wage workers engaged in construction work.
According to police, the child was playing with other children in the area on Thursday when he entered a car parked near his house, which was covered with a protective sheet.
While playing inside, the car door accidentally locked, leaving him trapped.
When the boy went missing, his parents and relatives searched for him in the neighbourhood.
On suspicion, they checked the parked car, removed the cover and found him lying unconscious inside.
He was immediately rushed to the Kulithalai Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The Thogamalai police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem.
An investigation is under way.
The incident has left the family and residents of the area in deep shock and mourning.
