In a significant step towards strengthening rural and tribal healthcare access, TMB Foundation has partnered with Karunya Hospital, Coimbatore, to enhance life-saving kidney care services for underserved communities in and around Karunya Nagar and the Siruvani tribal hills.
Access to quality healthcare continues to remain a major challenge for families in these remote regions, with Coimbatore city located nearly 90 minutes away. For dialysis patients, the long distance often leads to severe physical, financial and emotional strain.
To address this critical gap, TMB Foundation donated two advanced dialysis machines and a fully equipped ambulance to support the healthcare services provided by Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. The contribution is expected to reduce travel burdens, ensure timely treatment and improve healthcare outcomes for vulnerable patients.
Dr. M. Muthiah, Chief Executive Officer of TMB Foundation, and T.Earnest Vasiharan, Regional Head, Coimbatore, Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Ltd., formally handed over the ambulance and dialysis units to Joseph Amalraj, Chief Financial Officer of Karunya University, and Dr. Sam, Chief of Karunya Hospital.
Speaking at the event, Dr. M. Muthiah said TMB Foundation remains committed to bridging healthcare gaps in rural and tribal regions.
He said the partnership with Karunya Foundation strengthens the shared mission of ensuring that no patient is denied essential healthcare due to distance or lack of medical facilities.
The initiative marks another milestone in TMB Foundation’s continued efforts to support inclusive and community-centric development across Tamil Nadu.
