To ensure seamless arrangements for the lakhs of devotees visiting the Arunachaleswarar Temple, Tiruvannamalai District Collector Vandana Garg conducted an extensive inspection of the Girivalam path and key public facilities on June 9.
The Collector reviewed transport and infrastructure arrangements at important locations, including Eesanya Ground, Old Bus Stand, Rajagopuram area, Chengam Road, Vettavalam–Manalurpet Road and the Agricultural Market Complex on Tindivanam Road, where temporary bus terminals have been established for devotees arriving from various parts of the country.
She also inspected accommodation centres, sanitation facilities, purified drinking water units and rest areas provided along the Girivalam route. Cleanliness measures undertaken by the Corporation, maintenance of toilets and the functioning of sanitation complexes managed by women self-help groups were reviewed.
The Collector directed officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water, sanitation, transport and lodging facilities through coordinated efforts. Security arrangements, surveillance systems and crowd management measures were also inspected. Later, she reviewed facilities at the newly constructed bus stand and ongoing expansion works, stressing that devotees should be able to undertake Girivalam and temple darshan safely and without inconvenience.
