A private bus driver’s quick thinking helped save the life of a toddler who crawled onto a busy road after reportedly straying away from home unnoticed in Kerala’s Malappuram district.
The incident, captured on a surveillance camera, has gone viral on social media and drawn widespread praise for the bus driver and conductor.
According to reports, the child, believed to be less than a year old, crawled out of the house and reached the middle of a curved, rain-soaked road while the parents were reportedly occupied reading a newspaper on the veranda.
As a private bus approached the spot, the driver noticed the toddler on the road and applied the brakes in time, bringing the vehicle to a halt just before reaching the child.
The conductor immediately got down from the bus, rescued the toddler and safely handed the child over to the parents.
The dramatic rescue has won appreciation from social media users, who praised the presence of mind shown by the bus crew. Many also expressed concern over the parents’ alleged negligence, noting that the driver’s swift action prevented what could have been a tragic accident.
