Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay paid his last respects to veteran actor and director K. Bhagyaraj at his residence near Valluvar Kottam in Chennai on Friday. The Chief Minister offered floral tributes and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. Bhagyaraj, who passed away following a cardiac arrest, has been receiving tributes from leading personalities from the film industry and political circles. His mortal remains have been kept for public homage, with a large number of admirers paying their respects.

The veteran filmmaker’s mortal remains will be cremated with State honours at the Besant Nagar crematorium on Saturday afternoon, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Tamil cinema. Earlier, in a condolence message, Chief Minister Vijay described Bhagyaraj as a legendary director, actor, screenplay writer, dialogue writer and music composer whose remarkable body of work left an indelible mark on Tamil cinema. He had announced that the State Government would accord full State honours during the filmmaker’s final rites.
