Experts highlight advanced stroke treatment at GKNM hospital workshop

The Department of Neurointerventional Radiology at GKNM Hospital, in association with the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR), conducted a two-day National Stroke Workshop to enhance advanced stroke intervention skills among medical specialists from across the country.
The workshop, led by Dr. Rasmiranjan Padhi, brought together 28 selected specialists and delegates from various parts of India for intensive training in the latest stroke intervention techniques.
The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer of GKNM Hospital. Addressing the participants, he emphasised the importance of continuous medical education and advanced skill development in improving patient outcomes. He said interventional radiology, supported by sophisticated imaging and minimally invasive procedures, has revolutionised modern medicine, particularly in the treatment of acute stroke through mechanical thrombectomy, enabling patients to recover and regain independence.
Over the two-day programme, participants attended expert lectures, hands-on simulation sessions and live case demonstrations. Faculty members shared the latest clinical evidence, procedural strategies and best practices in managing complex neurovascular disorders.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rasmiranjan Padhi stressed that timely intervention and structured training are essential to expanding access to quality stroke care across the country. He noted that every minute saved during stroke treatment helps preserve brain function, and every advanced technique mastered by specialists can help restore a patient’s speech, movement and
independence.
The workshop concluded with enthusiastic participation from delegates, reaffirming GKNM Hospital’s commitment to strengthening neurointerventional expertise and advancing stroke care in India through continuous medical education and clinical collaboration.
