Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School conducted its 139th Annual Cross Country Race, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to promoting physical fitness, discipline, perseverance and sportsmanship among students. The event was organised with the theme “Save Environment, and Keep the City Clean.”
The four-kilometre race began from the C2 Race Course Police Station and concluded at the school’s athletic field. Students representing the four houses — Lordly Lions, Playful Panthers, Terrific Tigers and Willy Wolves — competed with determination for individual honours and valuable house points.
The race was flagged off by Mercy Oommen, Chairperson, in the presence of Philip R.J. Fowler, Correspondent, P.A. John Stephen, Principal, Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Zenette Jeyaprakash, Principal, Stanes ICSE/ISC, Eileen Jethro, Principal, Stanes CBSE, and Georgina Simmons, Principal, Stanes International School.
In the boys’ category, Aaron Firmian Kaduthose of Willy Wolves won first place with a timing of 15 minutes and 55 seconds.
Nathan of Willy Wolves secured second place, while Dharneesh J. of Lordly Lions finished third. In the girls’ category, Suchitra A. of Willy Wolves emerged champion, followed by Shreya Selva Durai and Vikashini D., both from Playful Panthers, in second and third places respectively.
The alumni event, titled “Wild Beast Chase”, also witnessed spirited participation. Nikhil Ramesh Kumar of Wolves House claimed first place, Alan Josh Herzen J. of Tigers House finished second and V. Raj Kumar of Lions House secured third place.
The winners received medals, trophies and certificates from Philip R.J. Fowler, P.A. John Stephen and Priya Sheen, Vice Principal (Junior School). Senior faculty members and distinguished guests encouraged the participants throughout the event.
The race was efficiently organised by Clayton D’Cruz, Assistant Physical Director, and his team. The event once again reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing resilience, determination and holistic development, celebrating the efforts of every participant who embodied the true spirit of sportsmanship and excellence.
