Stanes Schools celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the school campus in Coimbatore on Saturday. The celebrations brought together the management, dignitaries, faculty members, students and NCC cadets from various Stanes institutions.

The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Chief Guest Philip R. J. Fowler, Correspondent, Stanes Schools, followed by the Flag Salute and the National Anthem. The NCC contingents presented an impressive Guard of Honour and a disciplined parade, reflecting dedication, discipline and patriotism.

The celebrations were attended by Dr. James J. Gnanadoss, Honorary Treasurer; V. M. John, Chief Administrative Officer; P. A. John Stephen, Principal of Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School; Eileen Jethro, Principal of Stanes CBSE School; Zenette JeyaPrakash, Principal of Stanes ICSE School; and Georgina, Principal of Stanes International School.

The Chief Guest was formally felicitated with a bouquet. The cultural programme showcased India’s rich heritage and the spirit of unity in diversity. Students presented a thought-provoking skit titled “When the Flame Returns”, followed by patriotic songs and vibrant performances, including “Tiranga” and “Tryst with Destiny”.
The presentations highlighted India’s cultural diversity, the freedom struggle and the aspirations of a progressive nation.
In his keynote address, Philip R. J. Fowler commended the students for their discipline and engaging performances. He recalled India’s rich history and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and urged the students to uphold the values of freedom, integrity and civic responsibility.

He also motivated the students to contribute meaningfully to the continued progress of the nation and become responsible citizens.
The celebrations concluded with a prayer and vote of thanks, bringing the day’s programme to a grand finale.
The 80th Independence Day celebrations served as a tribute to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and reaffirmed the responsibility of the younger generation to build a strong, united and progressive India.
