Posters hailing Vijay as “today’s Chief Minister and tomorrow’s Prime Minister” have created a stir across Thoothukudi.
After the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam formed the government, several prominent personalities and others from different political parties have reportedly joined the party. Meanwhile, TVK cadres have recently been projecting Vijay as a future Prime
Minister.
The campaign has reportedly caused unease among Congress leaders, who are in alliance with the TVK. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore has criticised the TVK for functioning with a fan-club mindset and has maintained that Rahul Gandhi is the Prime Ministerial
candidate.
Amid this backdrop, posters featuring TVK leader Vijay and Sudhakar, who recently left the AIADMK and joined the TVK, have been put up across Thoothukudi
city.
The posters, issued in the name of the Thoothukudi Central District TVK, carry the message, “Today’s Chief Minister, Tomorrow’s Prime Minister
Vijay.”
The posters have triggered further political discussion in the district.
