The Coimbatore Range-level sports meet for Tamil Nadu Home Guards was held at the United College campus, with around 250 personnel from Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur and Erode districts participating.
The event was organised under the leadership of Tamil Nadu Home Guards Coimbatore Range Commander Dhanasekar. Coimbatore District Home Guards Regional Commander and United Educational Institutions chairman Shanmugam presided over the event.
The competitions included 50-metre, 100-metre and 200-metre races, 400-metre relay, shot put, long jump, volleyball and kabaddi. Personnel who excelled in the competitions have been selected to represent the Coimbatore Range at the State-level Home Guards sports meet scheduled to be held in Theni next month.
Regional and deputy regional commanders, force commanders, police sub-inspectors and clerical staff from the four districts participated in the event.
Regional Commanders Prasanna of Erode district, Panbarasu of Tiruppur City and Manoharan of Tiruppur district, along with Deputy Regional Commanders Karthikeyan, Jayapal, Nithya, Harigopalan and Thenmozhi, attended the programme.
Principals and physical education directors of United Educational Institutions coordinated the arrangements. Coimbatore District Home Guards Force Commander Jaikumar proposed the vote of thanks.
