The launch of four books authored by thought poet Dr. Kavidasan was held at RV Hotel in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore, on Saturday.
The books, titled ‘Vetri Padikattugal’, ‘Vetriyin Vidhaikal 100’, ‘Sikaram Thodu’ and ‘Vetripathai’, were released at the function attended by literary enthusiasts, academicians, readers and members of the public.
Dr. Viswanathan, Head of the Tamil Department at Sri Ramakrishna Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, delivered the welcome address, while Sri Sasikumar, Founder of Gnana Sanjeevanam Gurukulam, Coimbatore, delivered the felicitation address.
Dr. Murugesan, Principal of Coimbatore Pioneer Arts and Science College, introduced the book ‘Vetripathai’. Tamil literary scholar and author Padmavathy from Mannargudi spoke about ‘Vetri Padikattugal’.
Dr. Karunanidhi, Tamil teacher at Sachidananda Jyothi Nikethan International School, Mettupalayam, introduced ‘Vetriyin Vidhaikal 100’, while Dr. Pon. Shankar, Tamil teacher at the same school, spoke about ‘Sikaram Thodu’.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Kavidasan, Director of Roots Groups and author of the four books, said the growing prevalence of single-family lifestyles had created several challenges for the younger generation. He said the guidance, emotional support and mental strength that were traditionally available in joint-family settings were gradually declining, sometimes leaving young people vulnerable to taking dangerous decisions.
He stressed the need to develop self-confidence and determination among young people and encouraged them to regularly read books that build confidence, leadership qualities and the ability to face life’s challenges.
“Paper is a weapon of victory if you touch it; if you continue to read it, it is a weapon of victory,” Dr. Kavidasan said, emphasising that reading develops not only knowledge but also maturity and self-confidence to face challenges in life.
