Pitbull Attack Leaves Woman Seriously Injured Near Rasipuram

A 43-year-old woman was seriously injured after being attacked by a one-and-a-half-year-old Pitbull dog at Thoppapatti near Rasipuram in Namakkal district on Wednesday.

Parani of Thoppapatti had been rearing the dog. As he is currently abroad, his friend Arivazhagan had brought the dog to his house five days ago to take care of it.

When Arivazhagan had gone to a gym on Wednesday morning, his mother Kavitha, 43, was alone at home when the Pitbull suddenly attacked her. She sustained serious injuries to various parts of her body.

Kavitha struggled to escape from the dog and raised an alarm. Hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to the house and rescued her.

She was taken by a 108 ambulance to the Rasipuram Government Hospital, where she received first aid. She was later referred to the Salem Government Hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, local residents surrounded and restrained the dog to prevent it from attacking others. Fire and Rescue Services personnel and municipal employees reached the spot and safely captured the Pitbull after administering a tranquillising injection.

The incident in which a Pitbull brought to a friend’s house for care attacked his mother has caused concern in the Rasipuram area.
