Two Female Bodies Found Dismembered In Sacks In Attappady

Two bodies, including that of a woman and a girl child, were found dismembered and packed separately in sacks in the Bhavani river area of Attappady near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, causing shock among local residents.
Some workers who had gone into the forest on Sunday noticed two sacks lying suspiciously in the Silandhi Para area near the Bhavani river and alerted the Agali police station.
Police reached the spot and examined the sacks. They found the dismembered remains of two persons packed separately and allegedly thrown into the Bhavani river.
Police subsequently collected details of persons reported missing recently in the area and are investigating whether anyone had fled the locality and taken shelter elsewhere.
Preliminary examination indicated that both bodies were female. One was believed to be that of a woman aged around 30, while the other was that of a girl child aged around five.
The bodies were sent to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thrissur district for post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating the identities of the victims, the motive behind the killings and those responsible for the crime. The recovery of the dismembered bodies has caused widespread shock and tension in the Attappady area.
