Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday held a review meeting with senior officials on precautionary measures being taken ahead of the Northeast Monsoon.
With the Northeast Monsoon expected to begin in Tamil Nadu next month, the State Government has been taking various precautionary measures to deal with the seasonal rains.
IAS officers have been appointed on a zonal basis in the Greater Chennai Corporation to oversee rescue and other monsoon-related operations.
During the meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai, Chief Minister Vijay reviewed the works completed so far and sought details from officials on the preparedness and precautionary measures being taken to tackle the Northeast Monsoon.
Chief Secretary Sai Kumar and Secretaries of various departments participated in the meeting.
