District-level sports competitions under the Chief Minister’s Trophy were inaugurated by Erode Collector S. kandasamy at the VOC Park grounds in Erode on Wednesday.
Modakkurichi MLA Shanmugam and sports department officials were present at the inaugural event.The district-level competitions are scheduled to begin on September 21. A total of 45 sporting disciplines will be conducted at 19 venues across Erode district.
Following the district-level competitions, five zonal-level competitions will be held up to October 4. The state-level competitions will be conducted after October.A total of ₹38 crore in prize money has been announced for winners at the district, zonal and state levels.
