This year, 138 police personnel, 20 Fire and Rescue Services personnel, 10 prison personnel, five Home Guards, two Additional Superintendents of Police from the Fingerprint Division and four Forensic Sciences personnel have been selected for the medals.
The government has also announced the Chief Minister’s Anna Medal for Bravery in Fire Services for fire service driver R. Rajasekar of the Nagercoil Fire and Rescue Services Station.
On May 19, Rajasekar rescued nine-year-old Sailesh, who had been swept into the sea at Lemuria Beach in Nagercoil.
He entered the sea using a life-saving float and brought the boy safely ashore.
His courageous act was widely appreciated by officials and the public.
