Meenakshi Amman Temple towers to glow under laser and decorative lights

The towering Rajagopurams of the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple have been illuminated with colourful decorative lights and laser lighting ahead of the grand consecration ceremony scheduled for September 17.
In a statement, Minister Ramesh said extensive arrangements had been made for the consecration of the world-famous Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. A control room is functioning at the Pudu Mandapam opposite the temple’s East Rajagopuram to coordinate arrangements among various departments.
Drinking water and prasadam bags containing biscuits will be provided to devotees at the entrances. Medical assistance centres staffed by government doctors and nurses have been established inside the temple complex and surrounding streets. Ambulances have also been kept ready for emergencies.
LED colour screens have been installed at key locations to enable devotees to watch the consecration ceremony.
The consecration of the temple’s parivara deities is scheduled for September 16 from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. On September 17, the consecration of the golden vimanas and Rajagopurams and the kalasabhishekam for Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar will be held between 7.40 a.m. and 8.10 a.m.
Ahead of the ceremony, the temple’s gopurams and several sections, including the Potramarai Kulam and mandapams, have been given a fresh look. The colourful illumination and laser displays have become a major attraction for devotees.
Large crowds have been visiting the temple, and lakhs of devotees are expected to attend the consecration ceremony.
