An eight-foot-long rat snake that entered and hid inside a parked Eicher lorry near the Neelambur toll gate in Coimbatore district was rescued after a one-hour operation on Thursday.
The lorry driver, who was travelling towards Coimbatore, crossed the toll gate and parked the vehicle near a restaurant to have food. Meanwhile, a nearly eight-foot-long rat snake that emerged from a nearby bush entered the lorry and hid inside it.
Members of the public who noticed the snake panicked and moved away from the spot.
After the driver returned, he informed a snake rescuer about the incident.
The snake rescuer searched the lorry for nearly an hour and safely captured the snake.
He said it would be released in a dense forest area.
