KASC marks world ozone day with tree planting drive

Kongunadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Coimbatore, observed World Ozone Day by organising an awareness programme and plant distribution drive under the theme “Green Hands, Green Future” on September 16.
The programme was jointly organised by the PG and Research Department of Botany and the Youth Red Cross of the college.
College Secretary and Director Dr. C. A. Vasuki inaugurated the programme and participated in the tree-planting activity by planting saplings on the campus. She highlighted the importance of environmental protection and increasing green cover.
Dr. H. Abdul Kaffoor and Dr. R. Rekka coordinated the programme, while Dr. K. Thenmozhi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Botany, served as the Convener. Dr. V. Sangeetha, Principal, attended the programme as Patron.
As part of the initiative, saplings were distributed and planted to create environmental awareness among students and encourage their participation in conservation
activities.
The programme highlighted the importance of protecting the ozone layer, tree planting, biodiversity conservation and sustainable environmental practices. It concluded with an appeal to students and the public to plant and nurture trees for a greener and healthier future.
