Support Wings conducted a cleanliness drive at Perur Lake in Coimbatore on September 27, 2025, as part of its efforts to promote environmental conservation and responsible waste management.
The initiative was organised following the Ganesh Festival, during which clothes and other waste were dumped in the water body. Five Support Wings volunteers worked alongside Kovai Kulangal Padhukaapu to collect and segregate waste from the lake area.
Support Wings volunteers collected approximately 200 kg of waste, while around 1.5 tonnes of waste was collected during the overall cleanup effort. The drive focused on removing garbage from the lake area and segregating the collected waste.
The initiative aimed to support the protection of Perur Lake and its surrounding ecosystem while encouraging responsible waste management and community participation in maintaining water bodies.
Support Wings is a youth-driven organisation active across more than 80 cities in India through leadership programmes, internships, volunteering opportunities and community initiatives.
Speaking about the initiative, Samarth Taori, Senior Director of Support Wings, said the cleanliness drive aimed to encourage responsible waste management and contribute to the protection of local water bodies.
He said every effort to keep surroundings clean was a step towards creating a healthier and more sustainable environment.
The cleanliness drive reflects Support Wings’ continued efforts to encourage young people to participate in environmental protection and contribute to cleaner and healthier communities.
