Avera Heart Hospital set to open in Coimbatore on October 4

Avera Heart Hospital, a dedicated cardiac care facility in Coimbatore, will be inaugurated on Sunday, October 4, marking the culmination of a 30-year vision of Dr. Rajpal K Abhaichand and Dr. Chandrasekar P to establish a centre for comprehensive cardiac care.
Built around the philosophy “For the Heart, From the Heart,” the 100-bed hospital brings together cardiac expertise, advanced technology and coordinated care under one roof. The hospital focuses on integrity, trust, clinical excellence, precision and compassionate care.
The facility has two Philips Azurion 7-Series Cath Labs, two Getinge modular operating theatres, an 18-bed Coronary Care Unit, a 16-bed Cardiothoracic Post-Operative Unit and a Philips Incisive Cardiac CT with AI-integrated imaging technology.
Services will cover cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, anaesthesiology, intensive care and emergency medicine, radiology and pulmonology. Additional specialties include nephrology, neurology, endocrinology, general medicine and dermatology. The hospital will also provide 24-hour pharmacy and ambulance services, besides advanced Central Sterile Services Department support.
The hospital has been established with a focus on improving access to advanced cardiac care for residents of North Coimbatore and surrounding areas, reducing the need for patients and families to travel across the city for specialised heart care.
Dr. Rajpal K Abhaichand has been associated with the vision of establishing Avera Heart Hospital as a dedicated centre for comprehensive cardiac care. His longstanding association with cardiac care and his commitment to developing an institution focused on advanced treatment, clinical excellence and patient-centred care have been central to the hospital’s establishment.
Dr. Chandrasekar Padmanabhan, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Director of Avera Heart Hospital, Coimbatore, has over 34 years of experience and more than 10,000 cardiac surgical procedures to his credit. He brings extensive surgical experience and expertise in advanced cardiac care, with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.
He has undergone advanced surgical training in Australia and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA. His expertise includes beating-heart bypass surgery (OPCAB), complex aortic surgery, reconstructive valve surgery, minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery, redo cardiac surgery, endoscopic harvesting, heart failure surgery and heart transplantation.
Dr. Chandrasekar has held several clinical and academic leadership positions and is the former Chairman and Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at GKNM Hospital, Coimbatore. He has also contributed numerous publications and delivered scientific presentations and invited lectures at national and international forums.
For Dr. Rajpal K Abhaichand and Dr. Chandrasekar Padmanabhan, the inauguration represents the culmination of a three-decade vision to provide cardiac care ranging from diagnosis and intervention to surgery, critical care and recovery within a single institution.
S. V. Balasubramaniam, Chairman of the Bannari Amman Group, will be the Chief Guest at the inauguration. Distinguished guests from the medical, industrial, educational and community sectors are also expected to attend.
