Woman arrested for fleeing with lover and 150 sovereigns of jewellery

A woman who allegedly left her house with her lover and 150 sovereigns of jewellery has been arrested by the police in Chennai.
Adhithan of Vadapalani in Chennai married Ilakkiya in 2015 with the consent of both families. The couple has a son. According to the complaint, Ilakkiya later allegedly left the house with their child and 150 sovereigns of jewellery kept at home.
After failing to trace his wife and child, Adhithan lodged a complaint at the Vadapalani police
station.
As the police did not initially take action, Adhithan approached the court. The court directed the police to investigate the complaint and take appropriate action against Ilakkiya.
During the investigation, police found that Ilakkiya had allegedly left the house with a man named Jishnu from Kerala. Further inquiry revealed that the two had reportedly known each other for around six years.Police also found Instagram messages allegedly sent by Ilakkiya to Jishnu’s brother. In the messages, she reportedly mentioned travelling to various places with Jishnu and meeting him
privately.
Following the investigation, police arrested Ilakkiya in connection with the alleged theft of the jewellery and leaving the house without informing her family.
Police have recovered around half of the jewellery and are continuing the investigation to trace the remaining
ornaments.
