Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit has been appointed as the new Chief of the Indian Air Force.
An experienced fighter pilot and Experimental Test Pilot, Air Marshal Dixit has flown more than 3,500 hours on various aircraft, including the Mirage-2000, MiG variants, HPT-32, An-32, Avro, Kiran, Jaguar, IL-78, Hawk and Tejas. He is also a Qualified Flying Instructor.
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 6, 1986, Air Marshal Dixit is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Staff Service College in Bangladesh and the National Defence College.
During his nearly four-decade-long career, he has participated in several operations and exercises, including Operation Safed Sagar, Operation Rakshak, Cope India and Operation Sindoor.
Air Marshal Dixit has been closely associated with the promotion of the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas and other indigenous aircraft programmes of the Indian Air Force. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the force’s focus on the Aatmanirbharta initiative.
