Stalin calls TVK A ‘Breaking Bad Party’ over drug seizure Case

DMK president and former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has launched a sharp attack on the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) following the arrest of its Nagapattinam district functionary Bupalan in a major drug seizure case, describing the party as a “Breaking Bad Party”.
In a post on his X account, Stalin said Bupalan, a TVK district executive committee member and election in-charge for the Keezhvelur Assembly constituency, had been arrested by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials of the Union Government.
Referring to the seizure of 135 kg of methamphetamine, Stalin alleged that the preliminary investigation indicated that Bupalan had concealed the narcotic substance. He criticised the TVK leadership, questioning whether the party had been preaching about eradicating drugs while allegedly harbouring a person involved in drug trafficking.
Stalin called for a comprehensive investigation into the case, urging authorities to identify others who might be connected to the alleged drug network. He said the seizure of such a large quantity in a single operation warranted efforts to trace the entire network and bring those involved to justice.
Taking a further swipe at the TVK, Stalin referred to individuals he described as “Leo Das” and “Powder Sarath” and questioned how many people allegedly linked to drug-related activities might be present within the party across different districts.
Stalin said the TVK, which he claimed had earned the label of a “Bad Party” within five months of coming to power, had now been promoted to a “Breaking Bad Party”. He also took a dig at Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, saying he hoped the Chief Minister would refrain from responding to the controversy with another punch dialogue about things becoming more frightening in the days ahead.
