An eight-year-old girl from Jharkhand has gone missing from Karumangazhani village near Sriperumbudur in Kancheepuram district, prompting police to launch an intensive search operation.
The girl had been staying with her grandparents while her mother, Kalpana, had travelled to her native state of Jharkhand. On October 17, the child reportedly left home and did not return. She was said to have been seen walking near a national highway. After searches in several places failed to trace her, a complaint was lodged with Sriperumbudur police.
A search operation is being conducted under the leadership of Sriperumbudur Deputy Superintendent of Police Keerthivasan. Police have circulated the girl’s photograph on notices displayed on autorickshaws and made public announcements through loudspeakers across the village.
Drones are being used to search the village and surrounding areas, while a sniffer dog named Tiger has also been
deployed.
During the search, Tiger reportedly circled the house of one of the girl’s relatives, located two streets away from her home, twice. Police have intensified searches in the area, but the girl’s whereabouts remain unknown.
